MERGE EQUIVALENT CHILDREN
This worksheet describes how to get external data onto map objects in Quantum4D. First, find a space with the maps you want. Then:
- Verify that the names of the countries in the spreadsheet match the names of the countries in Quantum4D. There are two ways to make sure the names are the same:
- Change Quantum4D object names: If your spreadsheets are generated by a source that makes the names the same format each time we recommend changing the names of the countries in Quantum4D to match the format output from the system.
- Create a template Excel Spreadsheet: copy and paste the names from Quantum4D into a spreadsheet and make that a template for import.
- Import your spreadsheet into Quantum4D (we generally create a new space adjacent to the one we are going to merge with).
- In the tree, ctrl select the space/lenses that contain the two groups you wish to merge. Then right click and choose Merge> Equivalent Children Objects
- Choose the space/group with the maps to be dominate. The result will be all the data on the original objects will be merged onto the dominate objects which will replace the objects you imported.

Notes
Data conflicts: if you have two variables for one date the dominate will overwrite the non-dominate
Missing objects: If you don’t have data for a country, don’t worry, it will be ignored in this process.
