Two Variable Chart

Similar to the One Variable Time Chart except that a variable is also mapped to X. Time is now mapped to Z. This lens is good for comparing/contrasting variables – i.e. Assets & Liabilities. In the case of our sample data, we are comparing domestic product accounts (Y) to industry total requirements (X). As with all other lenses, this lens works well with color and size mapped.
Working with the “Industries Only” space:
see One Variable Chart
- Click
to start configuring this Two Variable (Time Chart) lens - Choose “Two Variable Chart”
- Choose the attribute for the Y position (we chose “Gross Domestic Product by Industry Accounts”)
- Click Map
- Choose the attribute for the Z position (we chose Industry-by Commodity Total Requirements)
- Click Map

Configure this lens manually:
- In the “Lens Settings panel, double click “objects”
- Select an attribute to map to Y
- Add the time attribute to map to X.
- Select an attribute to map to Z
- Using the same variable for Y, map color to % change for a time period (per self) and map radius to per group
- In the Axis and Grid Properties Panel
- Check the box to “Show Axes”
- Check the box to show XY, YZ and XZ grids
